![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Fish of Flaming Gorge Reservoir Lake Trout Fishing is for people going for the big boys in Flaming Gorge,These fish can weigh over 50 lbs. We typically catch fish from 34'' to 44". The best lake trout fishing is April through August and December until ice up. But we also fish for Kokanne Salmon, Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout. If you wish, we can target any species you would like to fish for. Please let us know at the time you book your trip so we can prepare the necessary gear and plan for that type of fish. Kokanee Salmon fishing has reached an almost cult like following, this fish is highly prized for its great taste and thick fillets. Flaming Gorge has become famous for producing the largest Kokanee Salmon in the country. The average fish is 3 lbs. and some are as large as 4 to 6 lbs. The best time to fish for Kokanee Salmon is in the morning . We can set up your fishing trip to fish for Kokanee in the morning and Lake Trout Fishing in the afternoon if you would like, or we can fish for both types of fish at the same time by stacking the down rigger with different lures. The best Kokanee fishing occurs from June through September. Rainbow Trout are plentiful in Flaming Gorge and typically weigh 1 to 3 lbs. They tend to bunch up in certain areas of the lake and move around. So If we are going after Rainbow it's important to know ahead of time so we can find them the day before we take you. Brown Trout are the hardest fish in the lake to target, but the stay in the same areas year after year. Fishing for brown trout is good in April, May, June and late October through December. When we are fishing for Browns we will also catch Rainbow, Kokannee and Lake Trout even when we are specifically trying to catch Browns, Browns bite best in the morning and are more plentiful in the north part of the lake. |
